Sheryl Powell graduated from Houghton University with a B.A. in French and did graduate studies in the language at Calvin College and Eastern Michigan University. A veteran teacher of over 30 years, she has taught French in both public and private schools from preschool through twelfth grade before joining the faculty at VSA. She has led 15 student tours to French-speaking countries and has tutored internationals learning English. The Powells are thrilled that their daughter and her family have moved near them in Michigan after living in the U.K. for the previous decade. Sheryl has provided leadership to the music and fine arts ministry of her Presbyterian church and enjoys reading, playing the piano, card making, traveling, and speaking French.
