Michelle Jones knew since she was in the 3rd grade that she wanted to be a teacher. That led her to complete her BA in Elementary Education with a minor in TESOL at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. Her first job was teaching 6th grade at The Bear Creek School which introduced her to classical education. While at Bear Creek, she earned her MS from NOVA SE University in Educational Brain Research. Continuing at Bear Creek, she became the inaugural Technology Curriculum Coordinator, teaching teachers how to use technology and writing curriculum to support the integration of technology as a tool into the classrooms. After seven years learning to love classical education, the Lord called her to start a classical school, Cornerstone Academy, in her hometown where she served as Head of School for 13 years. While at Cornerstone, she completed her administrative credentials at Seattle Pacific University. Her next career step was to Seattle Classical Christian School as the Director of Teaching and Learning where she got to do her two favorite things, play with curriculum and coach teachers. After two years there, she and her family decided to say yes to an adventure that took them to Texas where she began homeschooling her children and got to see first hand the amazing work of teachers at Veritas Scholars Academy. She started an LLC, Curious Learners, to offer consulting to classical schools and to capture the learning adventures she enjoys while homeschooling her kids.
Mrs. Jones grew up in a home where she learned to love the Lord and in 7th grade she made the decision to ask Him to be her personal Lord and Savior. From that point, the joy of the Lord has filled her life. She has served in children’s and youth ministries at church and on missions trips. She loves to minister to young moms, families of homeschoolers, and has a number of women she walks with in discipleship. She has been a speaker at women’s retreats, adoption conferences, MOPS, ACCS conferences and trainings, and at classical schools all with the hope of sharing the joy that a relationship with Christ brings.
Mrs. Jones is married to her high school sweetheart and they have four kids. Miah, born in 2003, is pursuing a career in graphic design and loves to share God’s word through visual communication. She has traveled to 38 states and 6 countries, where she has been awed by God’s creation. She loves a warm cup of Chai tea and a good historical fiction book with a crackling fire. She enjoys spending time with her family doing anything that creates laughter and memories.
