Teacher

Mackenzie Rollins was born in Ohio and graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Spanish. She completed her Master of Arts in Reading Education from San Diego State University. Mackenzie has taught in both public and private settings for 11 years while ministering alongside her husband Jeff as co-founder and director of Hope Family Care, a ministry to families who have lost a child. Mackenzie and her family host retreats and speak nationally on the hope that is found in Christ, even amidst great loss. Mackenzie and her family served as missionaries in Ecuador, training in discipleship and volunteering at a lay counseling center. The past two years, after returning from overseas, she has been teaching third and fourth grades at a local university-model school. She is passionate about developing strong readers and writers, loves teaching language arts, and specifically the Institutes for Excellence in Writing (IEW) curriculum. Mackenzie has seen great progress in her students’ writing abilities and confidence as they learn to write to the IEW rubrics. She is passionate about equipping students with the tools they need to communicate their thoughts creatively and powerfully, knowing that the Lord can use their writing throughout their lives to impact the world for Christ. Mackenzie and her family currently live in Spring, Texas, just north of Houston. They have four children – Jayden, Jace, Nora, and their daughter Zoe (already in the presence of our King). She loves traveling, cooking, working with children, and of course, teaching!
