Katy Schmitz has been teaching VSA curriculum to her own children, and to other homeschooled students in her community, for over twenty years. She earned her BA from Northern Arizona University in the beautiful mountains of Arizona. There she met and married her husband Ryan and they began their great adventure following Christ together. Katy has classically educated her six children at home while pursuing her own passion for reading and writing. She returned to NAU for her master’s degree in literature and graduated with distinction in 2016. When she is not teaching, Katy enjoys hiking and “glamping” through the mountains and trails of Northern Arizona with her family. While she loves studying the Inklings, George MacDonald, Shakespeare, and Russian literature, her greatest delight is to see students realize the awesome transcendent truth of a Magnificent Redeemer woven through history and language.
