Elizabeth Nelson

Elizabeth Nelson

Elizabeth Nelson earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in English from Bates College and then her career path as an educator took her overseas as a Peace Corps Volunteer to the Republic of the Marshall Islands. After four years of teaching, writing science curriculum, and partnering with educators in the development of science standards for the Pacific region, she moved to New York City. There, she earned her Master’s Degree in Secondary Science Education at Teachers College, Columbia University while teaching at the Brooklyn International High School. Her greatest experience in New York City, however, was attending Times Square Church. With teams from TSC, she traveled to Russia twice to share Christ’s love through ESL classes, participated in outreaches at the Bowery Mission and city parks, and led workshops that helped teachers bring Christ into science education. From NYC, she moved to Connecticut where the Christian Heritage School hired her as a Physics, Chemistry, and Algebra instructor, Science Department Chairperson, and Science Fair coordinator. After meeting her husband, Keith, and leaving Christian Heritage School to start a family, homeschooling her 4 daughters was her next educational adventure. Elizabeth is so thankful and excited to be part of Veritas Scholars Academy. With Christ's strength and wisdom, joy, creativity, excitement, and humor, she endeavors to bring out the best in her students by encouraging their exploration, explanation, ideas, and confidence.
