In August of 2019, 40 VSA students and parents went on a mission to Washington D.C. to explore the topic of biblical justice through learning and service opportunities in the United States Capitol. The question we all were trying to answer was what does it mean to DO JUSTICE, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God? We went to DC to learn from Christians working in and with government currently, and DC also provided a lens of history to examine how Christians have and have not always worked to do justice in conjunction with civil government in the past.
VSA students served beautifully, learned a lot, made very special memories, and most importantly left the trip mulling over the question of how they might begin today to obey God's command to DO justice today in their own cities.

Mission Trip to Ecuador
VSA's first mission trip was (of course) a very special one. Students and family members from our school joined one of our VSA families serving as missionaries in Shell, Ecuador for ten days to minister to the Waodani tribe. This is the same indigenous group made famous in 1956 with the story of five missionaries giving their lives to share the love of Jesus with this remote people group in the Amazon Basin. During our time in Ecuador, students got to know, work with, and enjoy meals together with the Waodani, including the children and grandchildren of those responsible for the deaths of those missionaries so many years ago. Our principal work was to help prepare a facility to minister to Waodani wanting to make a successful transition from living in the jungle to life in the city, and today, that site is a reality and being led by one of our very own VSA families.
