Katie

I'm Katie. I'm going to Clemson University in the Fall to study biochemistry.

Katherine

I’m Katherine. I'm going to Rice University to study economics and entrepreneurship.

Hannah

I'm Hannah, and I'm going to the University of Arizona to study nutritional sciences.

Naomi

I’m Naomi. I’m going to Patrick Henry College to study economics and business analytics.

Question: How did you meet?

All

Through classes, yeah!

Katherine

I follow them on Instagram. And then we also have like chats and study groups and everything that we do outside of Omnibus, econ, and all that.

Question: How do you connect outside of class?

Katherine

I mean, I normally just follow them on Instagram. It kind of started from there or like reach out, “Do you want to study with me for this test?” Like, that might be the easiest way to do that.

Hannah

It's something you have to put a lot of effort into because you can just be completely antisocial if you want to. You don't have to follow or do anything. Or you can get involved as much as you want to. So it’s up to what the person is comfortable with, which is nice.

Question: How do you connect outside of class?

Hannah

Like Hayley, sometimes she post polls on her stories, I’ll respond on her Instagram story, and sometimes I'll respond to those. And then the conversation will happen from there.

Question: How have your studies at VSA influenced how you navigate social media?

Naomi

I think just the idea that whatever you put out there is like, it's eternally there. Even if it isn't on your feed or on your page anymore, it's still implemented of what people think about you and the idea of yourself that you're putting out there. And kind of being more intentional about that, I feel like.

Katherine

Also knowing what you believe, having a worldview already founded before going out and being influenced by other people. I think that’s really important.

Katie

Especially in the Omnibus classes you learn about so many different worldviews and it helps you just be able to respect other people that you are following. You want to be able to be a light and witness to them in a respectful, loving way. You get that through Omnibus and rhetoric- which is so important. That’s why it’s important to take them.

Question: Which VSA Diploma track are you on?

Katie

Associate.

Hannah

I was doing Standard but then because I was really involved in ballet I switched to Associate.

Naomi

I was Honors.

Question: Did you get scholarships?

Naomi

I did, academic.

Hannah

I did Associates and I got a full tuition scholarship and that was purely based off of my GPA and my ACT score.

Katherine

I applied to Ivy League and got into that Ivy league.

Katie

I got into the Lycem Program at Clemson just based on the classes I took like Omnibus and rhetoric. It gave me a strong foundation for going ahead and studying political science.

Hannah

Even with the Associates track of a lot of your classes are still considered honors, which is nice. I don't remember which is the unweighted GPA for 4.0, 5.0, stuff like that. But it still allows you to get that high GPA, take Dual Enrollment classes and everything!
