Is Genesis History? Does it Matter?

Del Tackett, creator of “The Truth Project” has taken a personal interest in a timely and critical subject. Today, more than ever in recent history, the Bible has been under attack. Not just by unbelievers but within the Christian community.

Controversies surround our origins. Is the earth old millions of years old or is it young, say, maybe 6,000 years? Now add in the most recent wave of thought, Theistic evolution. Biologos.org boasts a list of some credible Christians purporting what is sure to be a fad or, if it endures, a drifting from the Gospel itself. Their home page “…invites the church and the world to see the harmony between science and biblical faith as we present an evolutionary understanding of God's creation.”

I’m all for harmony. It sounds great. But harmony requires maintaining the integrity of the two things being harmonized. And, they don’t. Much more can and has been said about these concerns for the integrity of such thinking. Time doesn’t permit a more thorough explanation here. Let Google be your friend for more.

Is Genesis History? is a significant and thorough treatment of this timely concern. They do it in a positive and uplifting tone befitting of the grace that they and we have experienced.

I was amazed at what they packed into this movie. Yet, it was no surprise to learn that many interviews and much footage was left on the editor’s cutting-room floor. I just hope they find a way to share more of it with us.
