Leila Haas was privileged to spend fourteen years of her childhood in the Middle East before moving to Texas for high school and college. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and history from Houston Christian University. Having grown up in a Muslim home and coming to know Christ at sixteen, she brings a unique perspective to her teaching and a deep appreciation for the ways God shapes our stories. The Lord has given her a strong passion for history and for helping students understand its significance. She holds a master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a second master’s degree in history from Liberty University. Her master’s thesis examined the region of Mecca during the years of the Prophet Muhammad, exploring the Christian presence in the area, the heretical teachings that circulated there, and how these influences shaped the rise of a new world religion.
Mrs. Haas has homeschooled her three children for many years and has taught and directed at her local homeschool co-op. She has taught French, Reformation and Renaissance history, World War II, the Cold War, and British and American literature, among other subjects. Her desire is to see the hearts and minds of her students deepen and grow through her classes.
