Jennifer Milligan

Jennifer Milligan is a Virginia girl but has spent much of her adult life living in various places along the East Coast besides her home state: West Virginia, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, and now Pennsylvania. As a History major at George Mason University, she envisioned working in museums and writing historical fiction, but the Lord opened an unlikely door into teaching which she has thoroughly enjoyed and pursued the past 25 years. Jenn has taught elementary grades in traditional and Classical Christian schools and when she had her first and only child, she surprisingly turned to homeschooling, a journey she had not planned, but again, the Lord showed her a wonderful path to teach and raise up her child and to spend more time as a family. While teaching all ages at various homeschool co-ops, she recently returned to the university setting to soak in and receive her graduate degree in Teaching in Classical Education from Templeton Honors College at Eastern University. She loved learning about Classical and Charlotte Mason’s pedagogies so much that she started a limited series podcast and website on them, “A True Good Beautiful Life.” There you can get a glimpse of her teaching style and personality.

Blessed to grow up in a Christian home and to have God open her eyes to her need for the Savior at a young age, Jenn has grown in her knowledge and love for the Lord. She has seen His mighty hand in the direction and care for her life, even through the difficult journey of discovering cancer in her new baby. That experience taught her the preciousness of life and family, which led her to finding joy in the everyday and devouring all learning experiences. This, in turn, led her to homeschooling, which then led her to philosophies of education for which she is now a devoted fan and advocate. Funny how God works!

When she is not teaching, you can find Jenn up till the wee hours of the morning reading up on education, Jane Austen, or Tolkien; hiking the local preserves or taking tea with friends; puttering around her flower and kitchen garden trying to grow cosmos, roses, dahlias, and veggies for dinner; dreaming of traveling to Europe to see castles and cottages; painting, crocheting, or crafting in general; visiting art or history museums, watching British mysteries or historical dramas with her family; and reading, and reading…did we mention reading?
