Jaime Zapata
Jaime Zapata grew up as the second of three children in Plano, Texas. Her parents worked opposite shifts, so the only family time they had were Sunday nights, and her father took the opportunity to have church at home. During this time, she fell in love with Jesus and cannot recall a moment in her life when she didn’t know the love of Christ. Wanting to get baptized with her siblings, she waited for her little brother to become old enough to profess Christ as Lord. Her father baptized her in 2009. A national award-winning cheerleader, she enjoyed challenging herself and constantly improving both athletically and academically. One evening, while assisting her little brother with his algebra homework, he exclaimed, “Hey! You make a lot more sense than my teacher does. You should become a teacher!” The seed, there planted, lay dormant for a time before taking root. Jaime earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Texas A&M University and entered the “real world.” A year into her first job, she realized her passion for teaching could no longer be ignored, so she earned an alternative certification. For nine years she taught algebra, geometry, and precalculus, and during this time met and married her husband Andy. Since that time, Jaimie has sought to educate young minds through private tutoring and substitute teaching at Coram Deo Academy. She then became a full time educator at CDA and only left to bring their son AJ into the world. In her free time, Jaime has participated in mission trips to the Netherlands, first as a counselor for her church high school seniors, and then as a part of the women’s ministry to share the beauty of Christ through art during an annual art festival. An avid Country & Western dancer, Jaime has taught classes with Andy at Crossroads Bible Church. She has also taught brush lettering and co-led a high school ladies bible study there. Jaime enjoys singing and regularly leads worship at church and at conferences with Andy. Jaime is very excited to be teaching for Veritas Scholars Academy and partnering with parents to help students discover the beauty of our Creator through mathematics.
