Questions Families Ask About Online School by State
Can my child attend VSA from any state?
Yes. VSA is an accredited online private school, and students join live classes from across the country. What changes from state to state is the paperwork your state asks of families, and sometimes the funding available to help with tuition.
Do I need to register as a homeschooler if my child attends VSA?
It depends on your state. In many states, full-time VSA families meet the attendance law by filing as a homeschool or home education program, with VSA as their curriculum. In others, the rules work differently. Each state guide walks through it, and this article explains the question in more depth: Is My Student Considered a Homeschooler When in the Diploma Program?
Can I use my state's ESA or scholarship at VSA?
Many states have education savings accounts or scholarships that families use for Veritas courses, and each program works a little differently. Your state's guide explains how it works where you live, and our school choice page lists every program Veritas works with.
What if my state isn't listed?
VSA welcomes families from every state. A Family Consultant can walk you through your state's requirements and help you find the right next step.
What time zone are VSA classes in?
Live classes are scheduled in Eastern Time. Families in other time zones simply attend at the matching local time, and every class is recorded in case your child needs to catch up.
