Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Dual Enrollment cost?

The current Dual Enrollment fee is $449 for each 3-credit college course for Full-Time Diploma students and $549 for each 3-credit college course for Part-Time students.

Physics Calculus-Based is a four-credit course; however, the cost remains $449. Calculus I is a six-credit course and costs $898 for Full-Time and $1,098 for Part-Time Dual Enrollment credit.

Please note that tuition rates are subject to change and are available in the Veritas Terms and Conditions.

When is the Dual Enrollment deadline?

The Dual Enrollment deadline is June 10 for summer courses and November 15 for September–May school-year courses.

Can my sophomore participate in Dual Enrollment if they are taking an eligible course?

Possibly. Approval for sophomores is considered on a case-by-case basis. Full-Time Diploma families should contact their Academic Advisor to request approval. Part-time students are not eligible to participate in Dual Enrollment as sophomores.

Do I pay any fees directly to Cairn University?

No. All Dual Enrollment fees are paid to Veritas Scholars Academy, not to Cairn University. Payment is due when Dual Enrollment is added to a course through the Account Management section of your VSA Dashboard. Instructions are available in the Parent Guide to Dual Enrollment.

Do Dual Enrollment courses require my student to complete additional work or pass an extra exam to earn college credit?

No. One of the greatest advantages of Dual Enrollment is that there is no additional coursework or exam required to earn college credit. Students complete the same coursework they are already taking for their Veritas Scholars Academy class, and by successfully completing the course, they earn both high school and college credit. One course. Two schools. Countless opportunities!

Can my student take Dual Enrollment courses in the summer?

Yes, we offer many summer Dual Enrollment courses.

What if I register my student for a Dual Enrollment-eligible summer course after the Dual Enrollment deadline has passed? Can I still add Dual Enrollment to the course?

Yes, but prior approval is required. Full-Time Diploma families should contact their Academic Advisor, while Part-Time families should contact their Family Consultant or the Service Team to request approval to add Dual Enrollment to the course.

Do Dual Enrollment credits transfer to all colleges?

Dual Enrollment credits are generally accepted by many colleges; however, transfer policies vary by institution. Factors such as a student’s intended major, the college’s core requirements, the number of credits being transferred, and other considerations can all influence how credits are evaluated. Students are encouraged to review transfer policies carefully and discuss their plans with an Admissions Counselor at their intended college.

I just learned about Dual Enrollment at Veritas. Can I sign up my student for Dual Enrollment for courses they have already completed?

No. Dual Enrollment is not retroactive and cannot be applied to courses completed in previous school years. Students must be enrolled in Dual Enrollment while they are actively taking the eligible course.

I need to change sections of a course that my student is Dual Enrolled in, or drop a Dual Enrollment course. How do I do this?

Please refer to the Dual Enrollment Parent Guide for step-by-step instructions. If you need additional assistance, Full-Time Diploma families should contact their Academic Advisor, while Part-Time families should contact their Family Consultant or the Service Team.

When and how will I receive a 1098-T for tax purposes?

Cairn University issues the 1098-T for the portion of the Dual Enrollment fees paid to Cairn. The form is issued in the tax year in which Veritas Scholars Academy submits payment to Cairn University. For school-year Dual Enrollment courses (September–May), that payment is typically made in January of the following year.

Please note: the amount reported on the 1098-T will not match the total amount you paid for Dual Enrollment. Dual Enrollment fees are shared between Veritas Scholars Academy and Cairn University, as both institutions incur costs associated with the program. As a result, the 1098-T reflects only the portion of the fee paid to Cairn University, not the full amount paid to Veritas.

Cairn University mails the 1098-T to the student’s address on file. If your mailing address changes, please notify both Veritas Scholars Academy and Cairn University as soon as possible so your 1098-T is sent to the correct address.

What is VSA’s Dual Enrollment refund policy?

Full-Time students: Dual Enrollment course fees will be refunded if the first college or university a student attends does not accept Cairn University’s Dual Enrollment credits. Refund requests must include a statement from the college or university indicating that the credits will not be accepted in any way (major course requirements, core course requirements, general education, or general electives). All refund requests must be made within the first eight weeks of attendance at the student’s first post-secondary institution. No refunds will be issued more than 12 months after the student’s high school graduation, except when a student takes a gap year following graduation from VSA. Please contact [email protected] with documentation for a refund.

Part-Time students: No refunds will be granted for part-time students under any circumstances. This refund policy applies only to full-time (Diploma) students.
