Tuition Built Around Your Student

One live class or a full accredited diploma: you choose the courses and build a plan that’s right for your student. A typical full-time year runs about $2,800 for Grammar students (grades K–6) and about $5,800 for Secondary (grade 6–12).

How VSA Tuition Works

VSA tuition has three parts: course tuition, books and materials, and the Diploma enrollment fee for full-time students, which covers a wide range of benefits.

Every Student

Course Tuition

$829 per live Secondary course

You pay for each course your student takes. A live Grammar course is $729 for the year. Lab sciences and a few advanced courses cost a little more.

Full-Time Students Only

Diploma Enrollment Fee

$649 to $729 per year, Secondary

Full-time Diploma students pay a yearly fee, set by the support level you choose: Classic or Premium. For Grammar, it’s $479 or $599. Classic and Premium include different levels of support, and a Family Consultant can help you choose. Students joining in grades 10 to 12 also pay a Legacy fee (see the FAQ).

Varies by Course

Books and Materials

Books are purchased separately, and the list depends on your student’s courses. Omnibus, History, and Literature Transition courses use the most books. Course kits and complete book packages usually cost less than buying books individually, and many families reuse books for younger children.

What Families Typically Pay

The following are three common plans that families follow. Think of them as starting points for your own planning purposes. Most students’ plans are customized, and your Family Consultant can help you identify and plan around your student’s needs.

Estimates for 2026-2027, before books and materials. Monthly amounts assume registration in February. These are starting points; most plans are customized.
Plan Yearly tuition Paid in full Monthly plan
Full-Time Grammar3 live courses + 3 You Teach Diploma courses + Premium Diploma enrollment $2,786 $2,711 $884 at registration, then 9 payments of about $211.33 April 1 through December 1
Full-Time Secondary5 live courses + 1 lab science + Premium Diploma enrollment $5,828 $5,678 $1,299 at registration, then 9 payments of about $503.22 April 1 through December 1
Part-Time2 live courses $1,658 $1,608 $190 at registration, then 9 payments of about $163.11 April 1 through December 1

Full-time plans include the yearly Diploma enrollment fee, due at registration. Along with official grade reports and transcripts, it gives your student a personal Academic Advisor who helps plan each year’s schedule, choose and register for classes, and find the way through enrollment.

Tuition Calculator

Every plan is built around one particular student: their strengths, their needs, and the person God is shaping them to become. Start with a typical plan, adjust it to fit your child, and see what a school year might look like for your family.

A Plan for Each Student

Children differ, and good education honors that. The old proverb about training a child “in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6) has always sounded to us like a call to pay attention to the particular child in front of you. Our course plans exist to serve the individual student. For example:

  • A strong math student moves ahead to Calculus II live, while a parent who loves literature teaches one course at home through You Teach Diploma.
  • A homeschooling family keeps teaching most subjects and adds just two live courses, math and science, where a seasoned teacher and lab work make the biggest difference.
  • A college-minded junior adds dual enrollment courses and starts earning college credit before graduation.

You don’t have to build that plan alone. Family Consultants are here to work with you, and full-time students also have a personal Academic Advisor who helps chart the path from year to year.

How VSA Compares with Other Private Schools

Families make real sacrifices to give their children an excellent Christian education. Here’s how a full VSA year compares with other private options, using published national figures.

OptionYearly tuition
VSA, Full-Time Secondary (typical plan)$5,828
U.S. private high school, average$15,420
Religious (non-Catholic) private high school, average$21,930
Independent school, median day tuition (grade 12)$36,615
Sources: National Center for Education Statistics, Digest of Education Statistics, Table 205.50 (2020-21 data); National Association of Independent Schools, Facts at a Glance (2024-25). Private school figures are national averages and vary widely by region.

A typical full-time Secondary plan at VSA comes to a little over a third of the national average for private high schools. At the Grammar level, a typical $2,786 plan is just under a third of the $9,210 national private elementary average.

Where That Education Leads

Veritas graduates have gone on to schools like Harvard, MIT, and Notre Dame, the U.S. service academies, and Christian colleges such as Wheaton, Grove City, and New Saint Andrews. Graduates earn an average of more than $45,000 in scholarship awards, and dual enrollment lets students bring college credit with them.

Just as important, they leave knowing how to think, write, and reason well, with a faith tested and strengthened in the classroom.

Ways to Save

Options that can lower the cost of any plan.

Join the Rewards Club

For $79 a year, students taking 4 or more live courses get $100 back on tuition, plus free shipping on books.

Apply for a Scholarship

VSA scholarship applications open in early March and are due in early May.

Use ESA Funds

VSA is an approved provider in several state Education Savings Account programs.

If Your Plans Change

Life happens, and it helps to know the rules ahead of time. Here’s the short version for live courses.

  • Before the school year starts: a full refund, minus the $95 deposit.
  • During the first two weeks of school: full credit to your VSA account, minus the deposit.
  • After that, through November 30: 50% credit to your VSA account, minus the deposit.

Summer courses, clubs, and Self-Paced courses follow their own timelines. You’ll find every detail in our Terms & Conditions.

Tuition Questions Families Ask

Do these figures include books and curriculum?

No. The figures on this page cover courses and Diploma fees. Books and other curriculum, such as eBooks, lesson plans, and downloads, are separate and depend on your student’s courses. Omnibus, History, and Literature Transition courses use the most books. A course kit or complete book package usually costs less than buying books individually, and many families reuse books for younger children, though consumable workbooks must be replaced.

Is the deposit an extra fee?

No. The $95 deposit is the first part of the course price. It holds your student’s seat and counts toward the total. It is nonrefundable, so we suggest registering once you’re confident in the course.

How is the monthly payment calculated?

After the deposit, the remaining balance for your live courses is divided into equal payments, charged on the first of each month from April 1 (or the month you enroll, if later) through December 1. Registering earlier means smaller monthly payments. The calculator shows your exact amounts.

Can we change courses after registering?

Yes. Section and course changes within the same academic year carry a $15 transfer fee, which is waived for Premium Full-Time Diploma students. Your Family Consultant can walk you through the options.

Do you offer a sibling discount?

Each course and Diploma enrollment is priced per student, so there isn’t a sibling discount. Families with several children often save by reusing books and paying in full.

Can my student start in January?

Yes. Part-Time students who enroll for the second semester pay half the course price and earn half credit. Full-Time Diploma families should talk with their Academic Advisor about second-semester options.

What is the Legacy fee?

Full-Time Diploma students who join in grades 10 to 12 pay a Legacy fee of $349 for each year of grades 9 to 11 they weren’t in the Diploma Program. A student joining in grade 11, for example, pays it for two years. It applies to both Classic and Premium, and the calculator adds it when you choose your student’s starting grade.

Does the diploma track affect the price?

No. The Diploma enrollment fee is the same on every track. A higher track costs more only because it includes more courses.

Can I use ESA funds or other programs to pay for VSA?

In many states, yes. VSA is an approved provider for several state Education Savings Account and scholarship programs, and the rules vary by state. Some families also use 529 savings plans or Folds of Honor scholarships, so ask a Family Consultant whether those apply to you. One thing to plan for: if state funding is delayed, tuition payments remain your family’s responsibility, so it helps to talk through timing before you enroll. See how ESAs work at VSA.
