The second day of Christmas . . .
“And on earth,” said the heavenly host, “peace, goodwill toward men!” With all the tumult and turmoil in the world, it’s easy to forget that the Prince of Peace has come. Many Christians commemorate the Second Day of Christmas as “St. Stephen’s Day.” They read the account of Stephen, the church’s first martyr, as recorded in Acts 6 and 7. In the midst of darkness and violence, Stephen prayed for his persecutors. On December 26th, many Christians reflect on how they, too, may be instruments of God’s peace. They pray that they—like Stephen, like Jesus—may love and forgive their enemies.
Today's gift for the second day of Christmas is brought to you by Veritas Press. We will be offering a free copy of the My Favorite Songs ebook and MP3 files of the songs from the accompanying CD.
Maria von Trapp wrote: "People often tell me, We used to sing at home. Let's forget about used to and sing again. Sing, sing, sing!"
Veritas Press is thrilled to share this collection of old Austrian folk tunes translated into English, original artwork, photographs, and stories from Maria's childhood, life in the Trapp Family Singers, and missions work.
Sing the songs that the Maria von Trapp--daughter of Baron von Trapp--sang growing up in Austria.
My Favorite Songs features the music and translated lyrics for Maria's selection of favorite Austrian folk songs along with photos and stories from her life. Simple songs like "Cuckoo," "Hop, Hop, Hop," "Little Chickadee," "O Christmas Tree," "O How Lovely," "Yodel of the Bells," and others will be enjoyed by young and old alike. A CD featuring the Von Trapp Children singing the songs in the book is also included.
Note: You will need to create or have a Veritas Press account to access and download these two free items.
