Katie Heflin’s love for teaching began at a young age when she would accompany her mother to help in a Special Education classroom. Working with students, seeing their excitement for learning, and watching them master new skills has always inspired her. She has taught both 4th and 6th grades and has experience tutoring through 8th grade.

Katie graduated from Oklahoma Christian University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education.

She enjoys reading, crafting, and watching movies. When the weather is nice, she loves taking her two American Cocker Spaniels, Ollie and Charlie, for walks around the neighborhood. Family is very important to Katie—both her physical family and her church family. She grew up as a preacher's and missionary’s child and later married a preacher. Her life has always centered around serving God and the church. She finds peace and hope each day in the “new mercies” promised in Lamentations.

Katie met her husband, David, at Oklahoma Christian University. They married in 2002 and have three children: Josiah, Micah, and Rebekah. Over the years, they have lived in Palm Springs, CA, Portales, NM, and now reside in Woodward, OK. One thing all three places have in common? The wind! They have also taken many mission trips together and enjoy exploring new places.

Katie is a joyful and dedicated wife, mother, and teacher. Early in her career, she received the advice to pray for each student by name, and she has found that doing so makes each day better than the one before. She looks forward to having your child in her class soon!
