Lauren Newman

Mrs. Lauren Newman has been teaching for over 20 years and considers it a privilege to be part of the world-class faculty at Veritas Scholars Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University and a Master of Education from Columbia International University and has taught in many educational settings including the traditional classroom, co-op, and private tutoring. After teaching a variety of subjects over the years, she is most passionate about grammar, writing, literature, and Latin. Lauren’s classroom encourages the ability to think deeply, write clearly, and laugh often while centering on a biblical worldview to discover God’s truth and beauty. She enjoys partnering with parents to instill a love of learning in each child.

Her hobbies include soaking in the beauty of creation while paddle boarding or kayaking and watching amazing sunsets with her family. Other loves include visiting museums, having coffee with friends, and hosting a weekly young adult outreach ministry, The Brew, whose focus centers around meaningful discussions steeped in Scripture.

Lauren and her husband, Tony, reside in South Carolina, where they were blessed to homeschool their children, Ellison and Grey. By educating at home, they were able to tailor learning to meet their unique goals, including exploring God’s creation together over the years and visiting all 50 states before graduation. Through these adventures, their children didn’t just read about history; they stood where it happened.

Lauren’s patience and grace are grounded in her faith in Jesus Christ and a love and trust in God’s Word. She was saved by grace through faith at an early age, and her Christian walk strengthened in her young adult years and grew significantly through studying the Word and having close Christian community. She strongly believes in investing in young lives and fostering an atmosphere of gratitude and joy through honest communication and genuine laughter. Whether parsing sentences or participating in Bible discussions, she aims to glorify God and point others to Him. In collaboration with Veritas Scholars Academy, Lauren continues equipping students to engage with culture, think critically, and effectively serve Christ in their future callings.
