Holly Scott-Riddell

Holly Scott-Riddell

Holly Scott-Riddell was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, but currently resides in St. Andrews, Scotland. Her parents live in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe (which in her very biased opinion is the most beautiful place in the world!), and she intends to one day return there. As a result, her students are treated to receiving their lessons in an awesome Zimbabwean accent! Holly has loved everything to do with mathematics and science since she was a child. She is a graduate of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and holds an MPhys in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. Holly obtained her Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Oxford. Her love for teaching began when she started tutoring at the age of 16. She spent 6 months teaching at her high school before starting university, an experience that affirmed her conviction that God had blessed her with the gift of teaching. Holly loves teaching mathematics and physics because she sees the glory, perfection and order of our creator God not only in the physical phenomena that we observe, but also in the laws and equations that hold true in all circumstances and which show the unchanging nature of God. Holly teaches through questioning as she wants her students to think, explore and challenge how and why things work, as well as to take responsibility for their own learning. While living in St. Andrews, Holly has worked for the St. Andrews Baptist Church as a student worker and administrator. Holly’s faith is the most precious thing in her life, and she loves to mentor young people in their knowledge and relationship with God. In all that she says and does she wants to honour Him, walk faithfully with Him, and share His truth with those around her. Holly plays multiple instruments and loves to draw and knit when she has free time. Having grown up in both the Arabian desert and the African bush, Holly loves being outdoors and enjoys escaping into the Scottish Highlands whenever she gets the chance!
