Hisung Choi has had extensive experience teaching for over twenty years. She has taught students in age groups ranging from preschool up to high school. Though she enjoys teaching a wide range of subjects, the one she is most passionate about is math. She loves teaching the “why” and “how” behind math. There is great logic and order to how mathematics works, and she loves opening up the minds of students to appreciating and understanding math in ways they had not done in the past. Hisung started teaching students of primary age, which gave her an understanding of building a solid foundation for then teaching students in algebra and geometry. She used her knowledge to teach other teachers to do the same through the UCLA Math Project, which meant a great deal to her as she was privileged to be a consultant through her alma mater. Hisung graduated from UCLA with a BA in Political Science and earned her teaching credential through the LAUSD District Intern program. She has used her leadership capabilities since then to minister through multiple capacities at her church: women’s mentoring director, junior high youth director, Bible storyteller, and small group leader. She enjoys being used by God in any way He sees fit. She also loves being outdoors, whether it be camping, biking, and hiking or playing tennis and enjoying a delicious meal al fresco with friends and family. Hisung had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home in beautiful Southern California. She dedicated her life to the Lord at the age of eight during chapel time at Hillcrest Christian School, of which she has many fond memories. God has continued to grow and stretch her through His redemptive grace and sovereignty. She is blessed to have done life with her husband Sun for over twenty years and looks forward to what God has in store for the two of them along with their son Ethan and daughter Madeline. Other than encouraging and supporting her family to love the Lord and bless others, she thoroughly loves cheering her son on at his tennis matches and her daughter at swim meets.
