Ethan Tong

Ethan Tong has coached debate for seven years after an exceptional high school career that included two National Oral Advocate awards and 15 top-three placings. He's coached over 1,100 private sessions, over 400 students, 13 clubs, and 27 debate camps. Those include six National Champions in HSMCA and NCFCA, and numerous other semi-finalists. In addition to his private work, Ethan has founded three debate-related companies: a Moot Court coaching organization in 2020 (Blackstone Moot Court); a sourcebook company in 2025 (RexRegis Publishing); and a nationwide Moot Court League in 2025 (the High School Moot Court Association).

Ethan graduated from Hillsdale College in the top 10 of his class with a degree in Philosophy and Religion. He then graduated from Truett Theological Seminary in 2025 with a Master of Divinity. Ethan was awarded the Robert Jackson Outstanding Student Preacher award.

In his spare time, Ethan loves cooking, playing viola, watching the Chicago Cubs, playing wiffle ball, reading theology, and working out.

Ethan grew up in the faith but didn’t begin to take it seriously until age 15, when he was baptized. It was then that he fully accepted the idea of salvation through grace rather than effort—and that propelled him significantly in his sanctification. He ended up leading Bible studies through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship while in college, which led him to pursue seminary.

Ethan is the second oldest of seven children, each of whom play a musical instrument (including two professionals and two music majors).
