Elizabeth Riess
Elizabeth Riess brings an enthusiastic and engaging teaching style alongside her more than 15 years of experience teaching in classrooms, homeschools, and coops. She is a licensed English as a Second Language teacher and an experienced classical Christian educator who has tutored, trained, and directed in many classical homeschool groups. Her education includes a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from Liberty University where she further refined her classical approach to Christian education within her coursework.
Elizabeth also has experience developing classical curriculum and creating positive learning environments which bridge homeschools and classical schools. She was a founding board member for Grace Classical School in Jacksonville, NC as well as Desert Stream Schóle Group in Clovis, NM. Being a military spouse has provided Elizabeth with the opportunity to live in locations from one side of the United States to the other as well as abroad. Through these moves, she has developed a discernment for people and places, allowing her to acquire the ability to understand and meet the needs of both her students and their parents.
In her spare time Elizabeth enjoys running and hiking. Because of her love of running, Elizabeth has had the opportunity to coach track and cross country teams in various locations for students ranging from kindergarten through college. Her coaching experience has given her the ability and strength "to encourage one another and build each other up," as Christians are motivated to do in 1 Thessalonians 5:11. Elizabeth's faith in Christ has been central since childhood when she accepted Jesus' gift of forgiveness and salvation. God blessed Elizabeth with her husband, Aaron, and together they have raised and homeschooled five children. Aaron and Elizabeth have graduated their two oldest students from homeschool, one of whom works within the 3D printing industry and the other who achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Bible and Animation and Illustration. Her remaining three students enjoy the educational opportunities that Veritas offers them in their transient homeschool life.
