Dena Elder
Dena Elder taught mathematics in Pennsylvania for seven years prior to the blessing of becoming a mother to three fantastic children. As she homeschooled her favorite students of all time, The Lord has redeemed her own education in the classical Christian model. In addition to her academic teaching experiences, the Lord has used Dena’s giftedness to teach biblical truths as well as their application to everyday living to fifth and sixth grade girls through Awana. Dena trusted in Christ at a Good News Bible camp around the age of eight. Dena boldly gives testimony of the continuing journey of growing in her personal intimacy with Him and continuing to in His power towards Christlikeness. Dena loves students and passionately teaches mathematics to the next generation of Christ followers. Dena received her Bachelor’s in Education with Secondary Mathematics from Shippensburg University. She has also earned a Master’s Equivalency in Secondary School Counseling. Dena is passionate about Jesus, the bible, her family, and running. To date, Dena has crossed the finish line in two marathons, 14 half-marathons and three triathlons. She is currently pursuing a goal of running a half-marathon in every state east of the Mississippi River. Dena is married to David, a dashingly handsome accountant, with whom she has raised three amazing children to follow hard after Him. After graduating with a Mathematics degree herself, their oldest daughter Maelyn married her own dashingly handsome accountant Daniel and is currently teaching high school math. Middle son Jonathan, a junior Pre-Med major at Messiah University, is anxious to follow The Lord into healthcare. High school senior and youngest daughter Kathryn desires to pursue a degree in Psychology and Dance with aspirations to become a clinical and mental health counselor to young girls.
