David Vander Haak

David Vander Haak

David Vander Haak grew up with Christian Education in his blood. Both of his parents have taught at Christian schools his entire life, in Washington, Maryland, and as missionaries in Japan. They instilled in him from the beginning the importance of walking in faith in every part of his life. He spent the first seven years of his teaching career in small public and charter schools, teaching nearly twenty different courses, mainly in the sciences, but branching out with psychology, health, and even some art. He has experience teaching at the secondary level all the way from middle school to high school courses for college credit. He holds a bachelor's degree in integrated science secondary education from Calvin University, as well as a Master of Science in chemistry from Ohio University.

Outside of teaching, David enjoys woodworking, hiking, reading, and baking. He also enjoys singing, and playing guitar and cello, which he does just for fun and also in leading worship at Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church. David met his wife in middle school, when they attended the same school in Japan. They attended Calvin University together, have been married since 2015, and currently live in Salem, Oregon with their three children. Their three boys keep them busy, and they enjoy getting outside as a family, and enjoying God's Creation in the beautiful Pacific Northwest for camping, hiking, biking, and more.
