Dr. Binnie King
Dr. Binnie King entered classical Christian education as a homeschooling parent and soon recognized its alignment with God’s design for cultivating wisdom and virtue in children. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Education from the University of Florida and taught English in public schools for ten years before hearing God’s call to teach within classical Christian communities. For the past fifteen years, Dr. King has taught multiple subjects at every stage of the trivium through homeschooling, local co-operatives, and both in-person and online academies. Pursuing her love of learning and her calling as an educator, she recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, completing her dissertation on the essence of Christian paideia in the online classical Christian classroom. Dr. King’s research in Christian paideia drives her current scholarship, focusing on a postsecular/classical education for the 21st-century global church. With thirty years of teaching experience, she embraces a holistic and biblically grounded philosophy of education that seeks the transformation of both hearts and minds.
Dr. King and her husband, Richard, have one adult daughter, who also attended VSA and is a freshman in college. They live in St. Augustine, Florida, and enjoy fishing, beach walks, and college football. Dr. King also enjoys reading, studying Scripture, and writing, as well as spending time with extended family, including four wonderful grandchildren!
