Here’s What You Need to Do Next!
If your student is in a summer class, this is extra important. Books can get back-ordered, so order early!
💡 Tip: Order at least six weeks before classes start. Students get access to their classes two weeks early, so you can get a head start on readings.
📚 Omnibus course students: Getting a jump on reading now will make the year much easier.
2. Print Your Academic Calendar
💡 Tip: Students get access to courses two weeks before classes start. Sign in early to check readings and assignments.
📚 Students often have homework due on the first day. Plan your “first week of school” for the week before classes begin.

The Tech Handbook is your key to mastering Schoology and Adobe Connect. It covers:
- Signing into your course page and your online classroom
- Communicating with teachers
- Submitting assignments
- And much more, including video instructions!
💡 Tip: Set aside some time to go through this with your students—it will give you a huge head start and make the first weeks of school go so much more smoothly!
Unlike other handbooks, this one is practical, not just rules. You’ll learn:
- How to request homework extensions (parents do this!)
- Where to find course assignment sheets (the lifeblood of students knowing what’s due and when)
- Tips for making your school year run smoothly
💡 Tip: Reading this handbook will prepare your family for the first day of school and beyond!
5. Get Connected
- Private Facebook Group: Share wins, ask questions, and connect with other Veritas families.
- Instagram: Follow along for updates.
- Community Connections: Quarterly forms let you opt in to directories and local groups to meet other families near you.
💡 Tip: Two weeks before school starts, your student will get access to Schoology and be added to age-specific groups under the ‘Groups’ tab. Keep an eye out! The Student Commons Group will also be ready on the first day—perfect for connecting right away.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Orientation?
Your teachers will each hold Orientation the week before classes begin (see the key dates above). The course syllabus, assignments, and other “housekeeping” matters will be covered. These orientations will also serve as “getting to know you” opportunities. Come the first day of class, it’s all about academics. More information will be available from your teachers on your course page, available two weeks before class starts.
What is the Tech Check session?
In the Tech Check session, experts will answer your tech questions. You will also be able to try out your mic and webcam in Adobe Connect. You can log in any time during the posted hours using the provided link. All links will be provided in the Welcome Email for the school year.
