Recommended for your fourth graders, the Saxon Math 6/5 Homeschool Student Text uses a spiral approach to extend a student's understanding of math concepts, sharpen mental math skills, and build student confidence in solving problems. Geometry concepts are fully integrated in the lessons, too. Lessons in this 3rd edition contain a warm-up (with facts practice, mental math, and problem-solving exercises), an introduction to the new concept, lesson practice exercises where the new skill is practiced, and mixed practice exercises that review old problems and new concepts. To purchase the Saxon Math 6/5 Homeschool Kit, which includes this student text, as well as the solutions manual and tests and worksheets volume, use item number 505660.

Saxon 6/5 covers key concepts, including order of operations, geometry and measurement, integers, divisibility concepts, ratios, statistics and probability, prime and composite numbers, patterns and sequences, and powers and roots. Students also will learn about making a multiplication table, adding and subtracting fractions with a common denominator, multiplying by multiples of 10 and 100, perimeter, simple probability, decimal parts of a meter, reciprocals, volume, square roots, graphing points on a coordinate plane, and more.

We strongly believe young minds are far more capable than many people think, and that's why we recommend using this program ahead of the stated grade level—something John Saxon himself told us he supported. With the help of incremental advances and the practice, practice, practice of daily review, your young scholar will rise to the challenge of grasping concepts and experience the triumph of ever-improving mastery.
