Mia Anderson started studying Chinese in high school and hasn’t stopped since. She received a B.A. in Chinese from the University of Florida and after graduating moved to China to continue intensive language courses for a year. Her first study abroad experience was for six weeks during the summer of 2009 in Shanghai, followed by a summer semester at Tsinghua University in Beijing in 2012, and most recently the 2013-14 academic year at Sichuan University in Chengdu. She also speaks conversational German because her mom is German and she lived in Germany for the first three years of her life. She is passionate about languages and has been teaching either Chinese, English, or both since graduating from college. Mia currently lives in Gainesville, Florida, with her husband Zach as he finishes his last year of medical school. She is excited about moving to a new city with him when he starts his pediatric residency after graduation. When not spending her time thinking about languages, Mia enjoys biking, hiking, picnicking, and pretty much any outdoor activity, as well as reading and spending time with friends and family.
