Joan Brandon has a passion for creating a positive and enthusiastic learning environment in her classroom and loves helping children learn! Joan comes to VSA with over 20 years of experience teaching in private school classrooms, private tutoring, homeschooling, and student intervention. Her education includes a B.A. in Elementary Education from Judson University as well as a certification in multi-sensory intervention strategies for struggling learners. In addition to these experiences, Joan was also employed as a Children’s Ministry Director for 11 years. This allowed her to teach leadership skills and to experience the power of serving others.
In her spare time, she enjoys weightlifting, running, walking her Golden Retriever, and spending time with her family. Joan was brought up in a Christian home and was taught the importance of faith in Christ at a young age. She lives in Sycamore, Illinois, with her husband Stu and their Golden Retriever, Moby. Together, they have raised two boys who love the Lord and enjoy spending time with family. She is excited to help students realize the unique skills God has given them while providing an exciting, engaging, and encouraging classroom.
