Shurley English is an award-winning grammar curriculum. This is the third course in a series of 6 courses used in Grammar school. Students will learn tools that enable them to tackle text complexity and rigor in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The lesson plans direct the parent in teaching the curriculum. Students will practice jingles on a regular basis and use assigned practice sentences for the week, making sure that they master the concepts and parts of speech. Writing, using the Excellence in Writing curriculum, is incorporated into the lesson plans. Student will learn key word outline, writing from pictures, narrative stories and essay writing. The CD provided with the course will be used to practice Jingles and practice the Question and Answer Flow with homework sentences. Parents should expect to provide consistent oversight and daily assistance on school days with no online class, including checking homework. Homework will average 1 - 2 hours per week.
Minimum age of 8 and maximum age of 9 on the first day of class.
