Algebra II and Trigonometry Student Text by Foerster

When we found out Harold Jacobs didn't have an Algebra II text, we called and asked for his advice. He recommended this title, and it has proven exceptional. Algebra II and Trigonometry Student Text by Paul Foerster is a two-year book that covers Algebra II and Trigonometry so well that Calculus is the natural next step. Mr. Foerster was obviously a good student of Mr. Jacobs and an equally talented teacher and writer. In this text, he presents algebra and trigonometry as a study of special classes of functions. In the process, the book thoroughly explores relationships between theory and real-world applications, bringing the material to life.

The text is divided into 15 chapters, beginning with a brief review. Topics include functions and relations, linear functions, systems of linear equations and inequalities, quadratic functions and complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic functions, rational algebraic functions, irrational algebraic functions, quadratic relations and systems, higher-degree functions and complex numbers, sequences and series, probability/data analysis/functions of a random variable, trigonometric and circular functions, and triangle problems. Additional topics that are sometimes part of advanced algebra but don't fit into the flow of the text are discussed in the appendices, including operations with matrices, mathematical induction, and exploration of functions. Explanations, exercises, and activities are provided for each topic, and you can choose to present them as part of your program.
