Educational Helps: Summer Reading Contest

Educational Helps: Summer Reading Contest

If you’re like me, a trip to the library is like grocery shopping on an empty stomach. As we enter the library I warn my kids “only three books each” and “we’re choosing the audio book together this time!” Five minutes in and my bag is full of everyone’s selections, plus some easy readers I chose (because Oliver needs to practice reading), plus books about homeschooling and parenting (because I need to practice that), plus cookbooks because I need a way to decompress after said advice books don’t work, plus a novel that I will probably never get to. As we leave the library with an embarrassingly large pile of books, I realize, I have a problem.

If this sounds familiar, you might want to think about entering your child into our annual summer reading contest. It is in full swing and there’s still time to enter! It continues through September 15, 2022. The first 100 participants receive a gift certificate at the end of the contest and a drawing will be held for three grand prize winners. Below are the contest rules.

We only ask that you as parents or teachers verify what the children have read, and then, after they have met their goals, complete the online entry form. Please encourage them to read good literature, not just look for a book that meets the page count criteria. Click here to download a reading chart if you would like to track your student’s progress.
